Uncle Melvin, shown here being hugged by his wife, Lucille, almost choked to death in a restaurant when a piece of food became lodged in his throat. 

The newspaper article stated that he couldn't breathe for almost 5 minutes.  Daughter Bonnie, having had nurses training, quickly applied the Heimelich Hug [That's the Cajun name for it, we are big huggers and kissers.  Les American say Hemielich Maneuver.].  The article states: "After repeated efforts, the food, a piece of fried chicken, was ejected with little time to spare.   Doctors later said that without oxygen in another 30 seconds, Landers would have suffered irreparable brain damage."  Bonnie saved the day and her dad... and... got her name in the paper to boot!  One more story to tell her grandkids.
