image: Gary with catch

My cousin Gary stands beside his catch of the day.  He catches more fish in a week in the bay than I have caught in my entire life in both salt and fresh water bodies.

He regularly sends me photos of his fish just to make me feel bad.  Now retired, he and his wife, Carmen live on the Gulf Coast in a home that backs up to one of those little canals that go out to the bay. His boat rests on a nice lift.  He walks out in the mornings, lowers his boat into the canal, and he—and a friend or neighbor—head out, mouths watering and hopeful for a good day.  His own boat lift... how fancsy can you get? I have admiration (and probably a little envy) for Gary and his fully-lived retirement, leisurely lifestyle, and his and Carmen's involvement with family, friends, and children, whom they regularly host at their palace-on-the-sea.  He invites me and Helen to come and visit, warning us only to call ahead to make sure there is a "vacancy."
