Album 11: Genie

This page is devoted entirely to my dear sister, Genie. Her real name is beautiful, Geneva Adele. She was named after our grandmothers. Our mother, Inez's mother was Marguerite Adele, and our father, Cameron Charles' mother was Geneva.

Genie has always been a traveler. Her journey has brought her to places far from our original homes in Louisiana and Texas. She spent some time in a liver hospital in Germany where she practiced her German and her skills as a medical technician. The one thing I remember about her stay there was the fact that the Germans seemed surprised that she would eat the pealing on a baked potato. She simply stated, "Oh that's the most nutricious part." They would have probably been even more shocked if she had told them that she also ate crawfish.

In 1976 Genie participated in the Bike Centennial and during that year traveled from the east coast of America to Salem, Oregon. I think it was there that she fell in love with that beautiful state whee she now resides. Her jobs have taken her from the north - Michigan - to the southern climes of Florida.

Because of her travels, I wanted to begin this page with a photo of her at the latest Providence Bridge Pedal in Portland, Oregon taken on August 10th. You may have noticed a shot of her on a previous Bridge Pedal in the banner atop the landing page of our Family section.
